Stunning wedding photography at Proud House

Welcome to the Stanmer House wedding of Lois & Mike. They were married on the 30th May at Proud House within the grounds of Stanmer Park. I arrived at around 11am just as the venue was receiving its final touches. Lois and her bridesmaids met me at the front of the house and I was given a whistle stop tour of this beautiful stately home.

This particular Stanmer House wedding was all in the one place. Lois and Mike were to be married inside the house. Afterwards, the reception and wedding breakfast was to be in the marquee. As such it was easy for me to get all of those important detail shots before I did anything else!

All of the decor and props were handmade by the Bride, Bridesmaids and mother of the Bride. This was literally down to the Hoops, Table plan, Table decorations and candle filled tree stumps. They had worked so hard and put so much love and effort into this day.

Civil Ceremony at Stanmer House

Lois and Mike were married by Brighton & Hove registrars, who performed a touching service. There were 2 readings, after which Lois & Mike said their vows. Then they were MARRIED!

We took the group photographs out the front of the house itself, this meant we were shaded from the sun. It also gave us a great backdrop! Once these were complete, the entire bridal party donned their wellies and we went into the woods. It was really important for Lois & Mike to get some fun shots with their bridal party.

I made sure we weren’t gone too long as I knew it was so important for the couple to spend time with their guests. When we arrived back at the house the food was almost ready and it was nearly time to be seated. Our couple had a little time with their guests, I used this as an opportunity to get a few group shots.

The party!

The wedding breakfast was swiftly followed by some very funny speeches and then outside for a little break. It was a very bright and sunny day, so this was literally a breath of fresh air! As the band set up we were able to take some more photos opposite the house in the beautiful evening sun.

I think you will agree they make the most handsome couple. After the first dance, I hung around for a bit to capture some of the dancing before I went home.

This was such an enjoyable day for everyone, I am really looking forward to seeing Lois & Mike again this weekend. We didn’t manage to fit the engagement photos in due to Lois & Mike’s work. As a result of this, we are doing something MEGA FUN!!

A little bit about Lois & Mike

I asked Lois and Mike to tell me a bit about how they met. We also talked a bit about their wedding day and I wanted to share some of what they said.

How did you two meet? –

”After a prank text from me to Mike through maid of honour Courtney. We soon decided that our chance texting lead on to common interests. Mike and I first met under a lampost in the snow outside our local park in January 2012. Our friends made us sledge down the hill facing each other.”

How would you describe your wedding theme? –

”Our wedding theme had a few influences to signify us as a pair. There was a festival vibe with the wellie boots and wristband favours. Also plenty of foliage, tree stumps and evening band. Travel themes with the table plan and table arrangements. A hint of Game of Thrones, Cake topper and brides overall look.”

What was the inspiration for your Stanmer House wedding?

”Myself and Mike are music festival fans, we found common interests through our love of various bands. We also took a years travelling together which was the best year of our lives. From this we took great inspiration. Our table names were all places we travelled together.

Do you have any funny or significant stories from your day?

”A few! Number 1 would be waiting outside the venue for an hour as no one was there to let us in. This resulted in me sitting on a rock outside having my hair done. With lots of Bridesmaids in PJs trying to find ways in to the house! The wedding coordinator finally arrived to let us in and continue getting ready!”

”Number 2 would be the one of Mikes groomsmen stepping in dog poo whilst doing the bridal party shoot! But feeling grateful he was indeed wearing his wellies and not his dinner shoes!”

”Number 3, The accidental pond dive!” Lois’s cousin and brother were swinging her other cousins son over the pond. ”My brother accidently lost his grip and poor Ethan wound up face first in the pond dripping wet!”

And finally, what was the best bit of your wedding day?

”Making it our own and making the wedding reflect our relationship. Knowing that the ultimate goal was to make this the happiest day of our lives. Also to make sure everyone had fun!”
