Creative photography for a DIY wedding

A throwback today, to the beautifully quirky DIY wedding of Charlotte & Stu in Lower Sunbury. Keen to remain cool after that disgusting heatwave, I am looking back at a nice temperate October wedding! I met this wonderful couple through mutual friends, friends we have known for some time, so I felt right at home before the day had even begun.

I cannot quite convey to you the sheer amazing convenience, yes, you heard, CONVENIENCE, of this wedding! Picture if you will; the bride is getting ready less than a mile from where I live. The registry office is one I have shot at a billion times and the reception.. ONLY AT MY LOCAL PUB!!

Sometimes I really enjoy a long drive to a wedding, it can be almost meditative, however, on this day, I was just super happy to practically hop skip and jump to shoot Charlotte’s prep as we all got ready for this DIY wedding in Lower Sunbury!

Weybridge Registry Office ceremony, then to the pub!

Charlotte & Stu were married at Weybridge registry office, as I mentioned before, this is a local registry office so I know it well. It can be a bit tricky lighting wise in some rooms, but still a beautiful building.

Group shots and confetti were all taken outside, time was of the essence as it was October. Gets dark quicker dunnit. Although the glorious sunshine we had would have you thinking it was mid July!

The guests went to to the Flower Pot for their welcome shots of tequila, whilst we went over Sunbury Park for a few quick portraits. I am a great lover of the winter sun, and mightily partial to a bit ‘o’ lens flare. So I was in my element. Charlotte & Stu were a dream to photograph, so effortlessly fun and so cool!

A good old Flowerpot reception!

The cadillac drove Charlotte & Stu around for a bit whilst I sauntered, yes, SAUNTERED (this NEVER happens during a wedding so I made the most of it!) to the Pot just metres down the road. Our couple were met with a celebratory shot (I can see a theme happening here can’t you?) then a scrummy buffet of more food than you could shake a stick at. Is it dinner time yet? I have come over a bit hungry!

The speeches took place shortly after and were really very, very funny, Charlotte and Stu took to the dance floor for a most romantic swaying sesh before the evening got, er, a bit on the wild side!

Merry Xmas babe, thank you for making the photos amaze, BIG UP!
