Devon is one of my absolute favourite places to go in the UK especially when it involves wedding photography, those VIEWS!! (unless you get stuck on the A303 behind a tractor, but that didn’t happen so I will continue) the drive is beautiful, even in the rain, the scenery is breathtaking, it’s just heart-warmingly lovely and makes me want to sing ‘Jerusalem’, loudly, with much gusto.  When I first spoke to Lizzie to discuss her wedding plans, I was overjoyed to find out where it would take place and had my arrows of desire eagerly cocked!

I instantly fell in love with Lizzie, so vivacious and friendly, after our first phone call, I felt so comfortable and knew deep down in my soul it would be a cracking day.  AND IT WAS!!

Lizzie & Jono booked Beaconside House for their wedding, they stayed there with friends and family before and after the wedding day, I arrived the night before because it is quite a way away and I never like to leave things to chance, this meant I could head over to the house to not only meet Lizzie & Jono, but also some of their nearest and dearest AND get some couples shots before the big day.

The weather was DISGUSTING, we remained optimistic but, lets face it, this is England, so I prepared myself for some torrential rain on the Saturday. I needn’t have worried, I woke up to birds singing at sun-a-shining, this was going to be a GOOD DAY!

Lizzie was getting ready with her bridesmaids at the cottages around the side of the House, it was so calm and lovely AND EVERYONE WAS JUST SO NICE YES THEY WERE!!!  The bridesmaids, whilst in keeping with the glorious glitter theme that was going on, had chosen their own gowns to be as original as they were, before they got dressed they were all in matching nightshirts V V V CUTE (Primark..NICE ONE!) quaffing fizz and getting their hair and make up done.  This gave me lots of time to go to the main building to shoot the details.  This was a truly beautiful DIY wedding in every sense, the flowers were bought and arranged by Lizzie and her girls, the Lovely Laura and her team arranged everything so cleverly, including the cake that one of Lizzie’s own bridesmaids made HERSELF!!

In the conservatory they had a glitter bar, also DIY, which went down a treat with everyone, especially after a few shants! I stayed with Lizzie for a little while longer just in time for her to get into her dress, WHAT A STUNNER, total showstopperl!!  Then I headed down to the church in Westward Ho! to get some shots of Jono before everything kicked off.

One of the most absolutely special parts of this wedding day was.. JONO’S DAD IS A VICAR AND ACTUALS MARRIED THEM HIMSELF.

I photographed this wedding alongside Papertwin Wedding Films, what great chaps, being a wedding photographer can be quite a lonely affair, so it’s always really nice to have some fellow industry people to share it with, we shot some couples portraits at the top of the Devon cliffs before going back to Beaconside House for the reception.

The speeches were held outside and were extremely funny, it made for some great shots and many, many laughs!  Pimms and elderflower was free flowing and served in monogrammed cups with stripy straws ALL VERY RECYCLE-ABLE MIGHT I ADD, scones with real Devon clotted cream were served on the lawn, it couldn’t have been more quaint if it had tried.

Once the Buffett had been served ( and what a Buffett it was), it was time for GLITTER!!!  Lizzie & Jono sashayed their way through their first dance to Jack Garrett’s ‘Weathered’ and then danced the night away.

I had such a brilliant time shooting this wedding, congratulations Lizzie & Jono I bloody love you.
